There could be no other way to satisfy the crowd’s craving for obscenity than to include celebrities on it. While it is not easy to achieve and maintain a ‘popular’ status as a celebrity, some have earned being ‘remembered’ in a very unconventional way. Ethel Booba

The Actress-Comedienne Ethel Booba, known for her effortless comedic skills and her sexy appearance has once become a huge topic in Showbiz when a supposed to be private video of hers –self pleasuring, with Alex Crisano, her ex-boyfriend taping it leaked in 2005.

In a conversation on her guesting at Gandang Gabi Vice she stated “Actually ako yung talagang mahilig maggagaganon, ako yung mahilig magvideo video. Tapos hanggang ano.. one time pagkagising ko nalang naggagaganon (video recording) sya.” before realizing that she unconsciously just admitted being in the video –one thing she did really not deny when it became viral way back then.

Now, Ethel is rarely seen on TV but continues to be popular with her witty and share-worthy tweets and posts and even authored a book titled: “#Charotism”.

 

Michael Pangilinan

It was Valentine’s Day in 2016 when a 16-minute video of a popular singer-heartthrob video chatting with an unknown person while playing with his junk, circled the internet. With an obvious resemblance of the face and body tattoos, people knew that the guy in the video is no other than the former x-factor contender, Michael Pangilinan.

Michael later on admitted that the person in the video is indeed him but reiterated that it was taken years ago when he’s still 17 and that it is one of his biggest mistakes as a minor. He did not seem to dwell on it that much and even joke around on an interview saying that the video is his Valentine’s gift to his LGBT admirers; –surely a great gift Michael, Thanks!

Michael continues to capture the hearts of Pinoy and international fans with his serenading sexy voice and trending cover of songs.

 

Hayden Kho and Katrina Halili

In 2009, Katrina Halili and Dr. Hayden Kho became a huge talk of the town after a video of them being intimate created a buzz on streets and internet sites. The video includes the two dancing sensually in the tune of ‘Careless Whisper’ wearing undies.

This became even a bigger controversy when Katrina claimed that she was unaware that they’re being recorded and sued Hayden for his acts –you go girl! After series of court appearances, the case against Dr. Kho was dismissed but due to his unethical acts, his medical license was revoked.

In 2015, six years after what happened, Hayden stated in his Instagram post that there had been a reconciliation that happened between both parties.

Now, Katrina is back in her Showbiz career and is a single mom while Hayden’s license was reinstated in 2014 and is now married to Vicki Belo.

 

Maricar Reyes and Hayden Kho

Aside from Katrina Halili, another girl that have shared intimacy with Dr. Kho and have the scene recorded is the actress/model/general practitioner, Maricar Reyes. There are few videos that spread where Reyes and Kho appeared, including one in a hotel room and in a sofa.

Even Maricar’s case is said to be worse than of Katrina’s –not that there are less or more in a sex scandal –she did not do the same thing the girl from the other video did. Instead, she kept herself away from the topic just letting the hype go down and listening to what her managers say.

Now, Maricar is continuing her acting career like nothing happened, being seen on some television shows and is married with the singer/songwriter Richard Poon.

 

Neri and Chito

It was August of 2013 when a video of Parokya ni Edgar vocalist Chito Miranda sharing an intimate scene with his girlfriend Neri Naig was uploaded on Facebook.  The video went viral at the drop of a hat due to the couple’s shared popularity.

Chito explained that his hard drive containing the intimate video was one of the things stolen from them when someone broke into their house; he also suspected that the thief could’ve been the one responsible for the spreading. His relationship with Neri on the other hand did not perished because of this incident.

While the person behind the first video has not been identified yet, two months later, just when the lovers and their supporters were ready to move on, another video of the couple came out. Chito knew how to handle it this time. At that same day, Chito posted a picture with Neri in his Instagram account saying  “Mahal na mahal namin ang isa't-isa. The more na subukan nilang guluhin ang buhay namin, mas lalo lang tumitibay ang pagmamahalan at samahan namin.” indicating that not an issue like this could get in their way. –you the man Chito!

After the incident, several instagram posts of the Parokya ni Edgar frontman went viral because of his well composed sweet messages of love to her girlfriend that earned every netizens respect.

Now, Neri and Chito are married and is living with a baby boy named Alfonso. They continue to become viral every now and then but not because of some salacious videos but because of their careers and Chito’s instagram post captions.

 

Through the years, cameras become clearer and sharing because of social media is now a lot easier; we can say that everything we snap or record can go spread in HD with just a click. Careers, reputations, or even lives of these people were greatly affected or worse damaged because of videos that were not meant for the public’s eyes and in the next years, surely there will be more Michaels, Katrinas and Ethels who may not be able to redeem themselves because they can’t call on a press conference.

Although we see them now moved on with their careers and lives, a lesson should always be learned from what happened to them: either secure your files, or do not video at all.
