Music Matters Live is Asia’s premier independent music festival that was launched last May 2011. It aims to bring together regional and international bands in Singapore to be discovered and to gain fans all over Asia. Music Matters Live in association with Apple Music featured 40 artists who came from 11 countries: Australia, India, Philippines, Taiwan, Singapore, Indonesia, USA, Canada, Malaysia, Thailand and New Zealand.
Last September 9-13, 2017, Music Matters Live returned to Singapore for its seventh edition of 5 nights filled with music discovery. The festival is in-line with “All That Matters” conference that covers the latest trends in music, sports, online management, gaming and marketing agencies in Asia and across the globe. This event gave an opportunity to festival acts to perform live in front of key global entertainment industry influencers and executives.
Annually, artists from all over the world can get a chance to sign up for the festival and if they are fortunate they will be included in the lineup. For last year’s Music Matters Festival, three artists were able to represent our country through their pure talents. Ben&Ben, a nine-piece indie-folk band came to perform at the Barber Shop by Timbre on September 9, 10 & 12. Kiana Valenciano performed at the Barber Shop and The Switch on September 11 & 12. The last artist to represent the Philippines was the singer-songwriter Reese Lansangan. She performed at the Barber Shop and Timbre Music Academy on September 10 & 12.
Who will be next Filipino artists to perform in this festival? Well, that is something that we should look forward to this year!
