CollegeHumor and truTV's Adam Conover ruins misconceptions and fake news through his web show "Adam Ruins Everything." Originally developed by CollegeHumor, Adam Ruins Everything is an information comedy show on truTV that aims to debunk false ideas and shine a light on popular false impressions about day to day concepts in the American society.
Adam Conover, the show's creator, star, and co-producer calls himself an "information sponge," taking in all information he gets from reading every issue of the New Yorker and listening to podcasts in his car. He then uses this information as ways to open up conversations to people, which sometimes backfire. In the show, Adam acts as himself to debunk common misconceptions by giving the audience facts backed by scientific research. And while he says that he acts as an exaggerated version of himself on the show, not everyone in his staff or anyone he meets, agrees.
Executive producer Sam Reich says that Adam is the "guy." Years before the show was created, Adam had a lot to say on various topics that got him nicknamed Opinionated Adam by his peers. They even had a blog named after him, where they put all of the most opinionated statements Adam has said to them.
Not only did Conover uses his daily-gathered facts in socializing at parties, he also uses them in his comedy. After reading an article about engagement rings, he used the information into his standup routine, which eventually turned into a sketch for CollegeHumor. Conover says that the other writers in CollegeHumor tend to make fun of him going on long rants about things none of them really cared about, so he wrote his sketch just as that into the script. He gives information, but the characters are also nagging him due to annoyance. However, despite the credible sources and facts by the show’s research team, Adam admits that they are not infallible and sometimes commit mistakes on a few of their episodes. They even did an episode correcting themselves, where Adam is the one that got ruined.

Get Ruined
We all know we should drink eight glasses of water a day, buying electronic cars will save the environment, trophy hunting is bad for animals, and marijuana is illegal because of its implications to our health We all know this from all kinds of sources for as long we can remember, and we believe it as truth based on scientific facts. But Adam Conover says otherwise.
